2010-2011 Freeland Subarea Plan Timeline

September 1, 2010: 1st draft of the 2010 Revised Freeland Subarea Plan available for public review.

September 14, 2010: 1st public meeting regarding the 2010 revised draft of the Freeland Subarea Plan to be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

October 5, 2010: 2nd public meeting regarding the 2010 revised draft of the Freeland Subarea Plan to be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

October 26, 2010: 3rd public meeting regarding the 2010 revised draft of the Freeland Subarea Plan to be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

November 19, 2010: Public comment deadline for inclusion in the Planning Commission Draft.

December 14, 2010: 1st public hearing presented to the Island County Planning Commission on the Draft Freeland Subarea Plan at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Additional meeting times and locations will also be stated.

February 3, 2011: 2nd public hearing before the Island County Planning Commission on the updated Freeland Subarea Plan at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Planning Commission votes to recommend approval of the Freeland Subarea Plan to the Board of Island County Commissioners.

February 16, 2011: Freeland Subarea Plan and Planning Commission recommendation and findings are transmitted to the Board of Island County Commissioners.

March 21, 2011: Board of Island County Commissioners approve the 2010 Freeland Subarea Plan update.

Freeland Interim Ordinance

The Board of Island County Commissioners held a public hearing for Ordinance C-84-10 on October 18, 2010 in the Commissioners Hearing Room of the Island County Annex. This ordinance establishes interim development regulations for the Freeland Non-Municipal Urban Growth Area for a period of six months (renewal needed in April of 2011).

*On December 10, 2007 the Board of Island County Commissioners voted to adopt only the Land Use Element of the Freeland Sub-Area Plan and to designate Freeland as a Non-Municipal Urban Growth Area (NMUGA). The Board directed the Planning Department to incorporate minor edits to the Sub Area Plan and to prepare Findings of Fact.
