To be eligible to register to vote in Washington, you must be:

  • A United States Citizen
  • A resident of Washington State
  • 18 years of age on or before the next election

If you have been convicted of a felony, you must have your rights restored before you register to vote.

You must not register in two or more counties or states.

If you are registering for the first time in Washington State or have moved to a new county, you must complete a voter registration application.

To register to vote, the following information should be included on the form:

  • Full Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Resident Address
  • Address of your residence for voting purposes
  • Address of your former registration
  • Mailing Address
  • Gender
  • Washington State Driver License, or Identification Card #
  • Attestation of U.S. Citizenship
  • Signature on the oath

If you moved, but still live in the same county, you may transfer your registration. To do so, complete a registration form, send a letter or an email, or call your County Auditor.

If you register by mail, and do not provide a Washington State Driver License number with the registration form, you will be required to submit a copy of one of the following documents at the time of voting:

  • Current and valid photo identification
  • Utility bill
  • Bank Statement
  • Government check
  • Paycheck
  • Government document (other than a voter registration card)

The document must show your name and address. You may vote a Provisional Ballot if you do not present a required form of identification.
