The Island County Board of Health convened in Regular Session at 11:30 a.m. on September 14, 1998, Island County Courthouse Annex, Coupeville, Wa. Board of Health Members present were: Wm. L. McDowell, Chairman; Tom Shaughnessy and Mike Shelton, Members.

Others Present: Tim McDonald, Health Services Director; Jan Dahl, Assessment Coordinator

On behalf of the Community Health Advisory Board (CHAB), Ms. Dahl gave a brief report on the CHAB, and recalled the process the CHAB had been going through, resulting in the priority

of focusing community energy on supporting youth. The Island County Youth and Family Summit convened in May this year, out of which 14 community groups formed in all parts of Island County to address the issue. Community groups are partnering with other groups in the community where the energy is gathering to support youth. Activities are being planned for Children’s Day in October, and will be some surveying of youth at those activities.
