ISLAND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS  -  MINUTES OF MEETING

SPECIAL SESSION  -   DECEMBER 8, 1999

 

The Board of Island County Commissioners  met in Special Session on Wednesday,  December 8, 1999,  beginning at 1:00 p.m., in the Office of Datum Pacific, 404 N. Main, Coupeville, Wa.   Mike Shelton,  Chairman,    and  Wm. F. Thorn, Member, were present; Commissioner Wm. L. McDowell was absent.   The Special Session was called by the Chairman to  provide an opportunity for the County Commissioners and County staff  to hear a presentation  by  Adams & Clark/Datum Pacific, Inc.,  Consultants, regarding  the  drainage study of the Holmes Harbor Golf and Yacht Club Drainage basins.  

 

Others attending included:   Roy L. Allen, Lew Legat, Dick Snyder, Jack Taylor and Mark Greene, all from Island County Public Works Department.  Tom Cleverdon, Les Killingsworth, and Troy Kostek, represented Datum Pacific.  Towards the end of the meeting, Bill Spalding, President of the Holmes Harbor Sewer District, attended.

 

Funding  for the  study is being provided upfront by County Funds, with reimbursement through  a $196.00 fee being charged for  each building permit application for each new home constructed in the platted area serviced by the Sewer District.  The purpose of the study is to evaluate the existing drainage system and to identify where and how large  to make and locate the required drainage outfalls, and to map and provide any drainage easements required for the drainage capital improvements.    The Board was advised that the stage of the study is still in the gathering mode and the consultant will host a meeting at the Holmes Harbor Golf and Yacht Clubhouse  on December 16th  at 7:00 p.m. to present to  home and property owners the findings of the study  to date and to solicit  any knowledge and problems they have or are familiar with that was not  identified during the presentation.

 

      Special Session adjourned:   2:00 p.m.
