BOARD OF ISLAND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OCTOBER 4, 2000
- SPECIAL SESSION – 11:30 A.M.
The Board will meet in
Special Session on October 4, 2000 at 11:30 a.m. to conduct a public hearing
to consider renewal of two Interim
Ordinances pending a final decision by the Western Washington Growth Management
Hearings Board.
The Western Washington Growth Management Hearings Board held a compliance hearing on August 24, 2000 and it is not anticipated that the Growth Board’s decision will be issued prior to October 5, 2000. The Ordinances to be considered at the public hearings are Ordinance C-90-00 relating to Critical Areas Exemption for Existing and On-Going Agriculture (previously adopted as C-28-00) and Ordinance C-92-00 relating to Rural Densities in the Rural Zone (previously adopted as C-29-00). Ordinance C-90-00 would continue to allow an exemption from the provisions of the Island County critical area ordinance for existing and on-going agricultural activities on land zoned Commercial Agriculture so long as best management practices are followed. Ordinance C-92-00 would continue the minimum lot size as 10 acres in the Rural Zone and the base density in the Rural Zone as one dwelling unit per 10 acres. These interim ordinances would be in effect for up to 6 months.
