The Board of Island
County Commissioners (including Diking Improvement District #4) met in Regular
Session on May 1, 2000, beginning at t
9:30 a.m., in the Island County
Courthouse Annex, Hearing Room, Coupeville, Wa., with Wm. L. McDowell,. Chairman,
William F. Thorn, Member, and Mike Shelton, Member, present. By unanimous motion, the Board approved
and signed minutes from regular sessions
April 10 and 17, 2000.
VOUCHERS
AND PAYMENT OF BILLS
The following vouchers/warrants were approved
for payment by unanimous motion of the Board: Voucher (War.) # 73770
- 73979 for $196,663.94.
Hiring Requests & Personnel Actions
On presentation and
review by Dick Toft, Human Resource Director, the Board by unanimous
motion, approved the following personnel

BOARD
OF EQUALIZATION APPOINTMENTS
AND
RE-APPOINTMENT
The Board, after having gone through a process of interviewing
candidates for appointment as members to the
Island County Board of Equalization, by unanimous motion appointed two new members and named a reappointment, as follows, all for terms to May 31, 2003:

Peggy Whitford, Oak Harbor
Reappointment
Mary Erickson, Coupeville.
Claim for Damages, R00-014CD,
Gregory Lee Schweer
Betty Kemp, Director
GSA/Risk Management, presented her review and recommendation with regard to
Claim for Damages #R00-014CD by Gregory
Lee Schweer. Claim was filed with
regard to incident involving an Island
County trailer which apparently broke away from the m towing vehicle (3/4 ton
pick-up) and collided with claimant’s van.
Copy of Incident/Accident Report
was provided; there were no reported injuries.
After review of repair estimates
and value of claimant’s vehicle, Ms. Kemp recommended approval of the claim in
the amount of $1,916.00. By unanimous
motion, the Board approved Claim for Damages in the amount of $1916.00.
Stormwater Mitigation Agreements
As presented and
recommended for approval by Lew Legat, County Engineer, the Board by unanimous
motion approved the following two Stormwater Mitigation Agreements:

As presented and
recommended for approval by Lew Legat, County Engineer, the Board by unanimous
motion approved the following Adopt-A-Road Litter Control Program Agreement
renewals:

HEARING SCHEDULED: Ordinance #C-43-00 [R-22-00]

Loan Agreement Between Island County
and State of Washington Department of
Ecology [HD-05-00]
By unanimous motion,
the Board scheduled a Public Hearing
for May 22, 2000 at 2:15 p.m., for the purpose of considering Ordinance #C-43-00 [R-22-00] In the Matter
of Executing State Revolving Fund Loan Agreement Between Island County and the State of Washington Department of
Ecology [HD-05-00].
There being no further business to come
before the Board at this time, the Chairman adjourned the meeting at 10:20
a.m., to meet again in Regular Session on May 8, 2000 beginning at 9:30 a.m.
