ISLAND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS –  MINUTES OF MEETING

SPECIAL SESSION  -  SEPTEMBER 27, 2000

 

The Board of Island County Commissioners  met in Special  Session  September 27th for a no-

host luncheon 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., to conduct   a joint meeting with Elected Officials from Island County,  City of Oak    Harbor, City of Langley, Town of Coupeville, and Port Districts;

and at 2:00 p.m. to conduct a budget workshop.  Both sessions were held in the Island  County Courthouse Annex, Basement Hearing Room, Coupeville, Wa.,

 

JOINT MEETING

 

Attendance:  County Commissioners  Wm. L. McDowell, Chairman,   William F. Thorn, Member and Mike Shelton, Member, attended.     Others present included:  Patricia Cohen, Mayor, City of Oak Harbor; Nancy Conard, Mayor, Town of Coupeville; and Lloyd Furman, Mayor, City of Langley; Ed Van Patten, Port of Coupeville.

 

The primary focus of this meeting was a  presentation made by  Gay Dubigk,  Executive Director,  Northwest Workforce Development Council, relative to NWDC functions in the four Northwest Washington Counties, and NWDC’s activities in the Oak Harbor office.   

 

The  next  elected officials joint meeting date is set for October 25th  at 12:30 p.m.  

 

BUDGET WORKSHOP

 

The Board met in budget workshop at 2:00 with the Law and Justice Group, which included

Superior Court; Law Library; District Court/Probation; Sheriff/Jail; Criminal Justice 1% Sales Tax Fund; Drug Seizure ; Juvenile Court Services/Grants; Public Defense; Guardian ad Litem; County Clerk

Prosecuting Attorney/Anti-Profiteering/Drug Seizure Fund. Minutes from the budget workshop are

on file in the Office of the Commissioners and Budget Director.
