BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS   -  MINUTES OF MEETING

SPECIAL SESSION – FEBRUARY 27, 2002

 

The Board of Island County Commissioners met in  Special Session on  February 27,  2002,  for a no-host luncheon beginning at  Noon, at the Island County Courthouse Annex Hearing Room, Coupeville, Wa.   The session was called to allow the   Commissioners’  participation  in a  joint meeting with Elected Officials from Island County, City of Oak Harbor, City of Langley, Town of Coupeville, and Port Districts to discuss mutual issues and concerns.

 

County Commissioners attending were:  Mike  Shelton, Chairman;  and Wm. L. McDowell.   Others attending included:  Mayor Nancy Conard, Town of Coupeville; and Lloyd Furman, Mayor of Langley.

 

Commissioner  Shelton shared a draft of a  preliminary interlocal agreement to formalize the Council of Governments.  Discussion resulted in suggestions for changes which the Commissioner will   communicate  to David L. Jamieson, Jr.,   and bring a revised draft back to the next meeting.   With regard to legislative and budget issues, discussion  centered on pending state legislation and the impact on the cities and county.

 

Next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 27, following RTPO.
