ISLAND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS   -  MINUTES OF MEETING

SPECIAL SESSION – MARCH  27, 2002

 

The Board of Island County Commissioners met in  Special Session on  March  27,  2002,  at Noon,  Island County Courthouse Annex Hearing Room, Coupeville, Wa., called in order to allow the   Commissioners’  participation  in a  joint meeting with Elected Officials from Island County, City of Oak Harbor, City of Langley, Town of Coupeville, and Port Districts.  The main topics of the meeting were:  discussion of mutual concerns and legislative issues;   draft  interlocal agreement to formalize the  Council of Governments; and a presentation from Don Wick, Skagit EDC.

 

Attendance: 

 

County Commissioners:   Mike  Shelton, Chairman; Wm. L. McDowell, Member; William F. Thorn, Member

 

Elected Officials:  Nancy Conard, Mayor, Town of Coupeville; Patricia Cohen, Mayor, City of Oak Harbor; and Ed Van Patten, Commissioner, Port of Coupeville.

 

Presentation - Skagit County EDC

 

Mr.  Wick was unable to  attend today’s meeting and the Skagit County EDC presentation will be scheduled for another date.

 

Draft Interlocal Agreement

 

Revisions  to the draft  interlocal agreement are still in process and not ready for review today.

 

Legislative  Issues

 

Everyone was extremely pleased that the Rural Counties Bill was approved, and according to Senator Mary Margaret Haugen, was to be signed this morning in Olympia by the Governor.

 

Meeting adjourned at 12:20 p.m.  Next meeting  scheduled for Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at Noon.
