ISLAND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
- MINUTES OF MEETING
The Board of Island County Commissioners met in Special Session on Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. in the Island County Courthouse Annex, Basement Hearing Room, Coupeville, Wa. The purpose of the meeting was to allow the County Commissioners to participate in a joint Council of Governments meeting with Elected Officials from Island County, City of Oak Harbor, City of Langley, Town of Coupeville, and Port Districts.
Mike Shelton, Chairman; Wm. L. McDowell, Member; and William F. Thorn, Member, were present. Additionally, Mayor Patty Cohen, City of Oak Harbor; Mayor Nancy Conard, Town of Coupeville; and Mayor Lloyd Furman, City of Langley attended.
Mike Morton, Island County Public Works Department Transportation Planner, gave a briefing concerning Mt. Vernon’s new status as an “Urban Area” and the requirement to form a Metropolitan Planning Organization; mentioned a grant for the Heritage Program and talked briefly about a report on the Route Study for 532 on Camano Island.
A presentation was given by Karen Burcholz, Olympia, on the use of the .08 tax rebate for infrastructure for economic development and how counties have used that and the process used to fund projects.
The draft Interlocal Agreement was discussed and continued to next meeting to make some corrections.
Meeting adjourned 11:50 a.m.
