BOARD OF ISLAND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MINUTES OF MEETING

SPECIAL SESSION - AUGUST 14, 2002

The Board of Island County Commissioners met in Special Session on Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at 9:00 a.m. in the Island County Courthouse Administrative Building, located at 1 N.E. 7^th Street, Coupeville, Wa. Conference Room #218. Mike Shelton, Chairman; Wm. L. McDowell, Member, and William F. Thorn, Member, were present. The Special Session was called for the purpose of considering and acting on a Contract and Contract Bond for Courthouse Expansion-Phase 3A, Annex Remodel, asbestos abatement project.

Bill Oakes, Public Works Director, presented the Contract and Contract Bond from Thermatech Northwest, Inc. for the Courthouse Expansion Phase 3A Annex Remodel, Asbestos Abatement, per bid awarded on August 5, 2002 under Work Order #314, for a total of $25,763.49 [$23,789.00 base bid; $1,974.49 sales tax]. Mr. Oakes confirmed that the Contractor signed the Contract but missed signing the Contract Bond; therefore he recommended approval of the Contract and Contract Bond but that Notice to Proceed not be issued until the contract has been signed by the Contractor.

Commissioner Thorn moved to approve the Contract with Thermatech Northwest, Inc. for the Courthouse Expansion Phase 3A Annex Remodel Asbestos Abatement project for a total of $25,763.49 and approve signature on the contract bond; however, work not to start until contractor has signed the bond. Motion, seconded by Commissioner McDowell, carried unanimously.

Meeting adjourned at 9:05 a.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for August 19, 2002 at 9:30 a.m.
