ISLAND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS - MINUTES OF MEETING

SPECIAL SESSION – OCTOBER 29, 2002

The Board of Island County Commissioners met in Special Session October 29, 2002 at Noon for a no-host luncheon, and a meeting following at 1:00 p.m., at the Tyee Restaurant, located at 405 S. Main Street, Coupeville, Wa. The 1:00 p.m. meeting portion subsequently moved to Conference Room #116, Courthouse Administration Building, 1 NE 7^th Street, Coupeville.

Mike Shelton, Chairman, and William F. Thorn, Member, were present; Wm. L. McDowell, Member, absent.

The special session was called in order for the Commissioners, with other Island County Elected Officials, to meet with Bill Vogler, Executive Director, Washington State Association of Counties and Debbie Wilke, Executive Director, Washington State Association of County Officials. They explained the 2002 legislative session; talked about efforts that will be necessary in the next legislative session; long-term plans regarding future funding for counties and issues unique to Island County. The presentation lasted approximately 30 minutes followed by input from the County Commissioners and Elected Officials. Mr. Vogler and Ms. Wilke made themselves available after the meeting to meet individually with County officials.

Meeting adjourned 2:45 p.m. The next regular meeting of the Board

will be on November 4, 2002 at 9:30 a.m.
