COUNTY COMMISSIONERS - MINUTES OF MEETING
SPECIAL SESSION – FEBRUARY 22, 2003
The Board of Island County
Commissioners met in Special Session on Saturday, February 22,
2003, at 9:00 a.m. for a no-host
breakfast meeting at Henderson’s Restaurant, 430 S.E. Pioneer Way, Oak Harbor,
Wa. Wm. L. McDowell, Chairman, William
J. Byrd, Member, and Mike Shelton, Member, were present.
The meeting was
called to allow the County
Commissioners’ participation in a joint Council of Governments meeting
with Elected Officials from Island County, City of Oak Harbor, City of Langley,
Town of Coupeville, and Port Districts, and Washington State Legislators from
District 10.
In addition to the County
Commissioners, attendance included:

The purpose of the session was to meet
with the Senator and Representatives to
discuss in a roundtable setting various
legislation of mutual interest and concern. The bills are still in committee
and it is about two weeks’ out until it
will be known which bills survive
committee. Participants were told that
it is unlikely any bills with associated costs to the State
will survive committee.
Meeting adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
The Board of County Commissioners will
meet in Regular Session next on February 24, 2003, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
