ISLAND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS –  MINUTES OF MEETING 

SPECIAL SESSION  -  MAY 14, 2003

 

The Board of Island County Commissioners  met in  Special Session on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at 3:30 p.m. at the Courthouse Administration Building located at 1 N. E. 7th Street,   Second Floor, Conference Room #218, Coupeville, Wa.    Bill Byrd, Member, and Mike  Shelton, Member, were present;  Chairman Wm. L. McDowell absent. 

 

The purpose of the meeting was to approve  a pre-audited voucher that had not been  available at the time of Regular Meeting on May 12th.  

 

VOUCHER APPROVED

 

The following voucher/warrant was approved for payment on motion of Commissioner  Shelton, seconded by Commissioner Byrd and carried unanimously:

 

Voucher (War.) #3540335  & #165471 ………….$28,085.50.

 

GRANT APPLICATION

 

Michael S.  Merringer, Administrator, Island County Juvenile  & Family Court Services, advised the Board of a time-sensitive matter and requested action today by signing a regional application for grant  from GJJAC  directed at reducing the disproportional representation of minority groups in juvenile criminal justice/detention. The $20,000 available to be  utilized for the Region to provide training and to established local work groups. Response is required no later than Thursday  this week.

 

Although not a noticed agenda item for this special session, because of the  short time frame within which to act, Commissioner Shelton moved that the Board approve and sign  the regional grant application, said action to be ratified by the full Board in open public session  on May 19, 2003; motion, seconded by Commissioner Byrd, carried unanimously.  

 

Meeting adjourned at 3:35 p.m.  The next regularly scheduled  meeting is May 19, 2003 at  9:30 a.m.
