ISLAND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS – MINUTES OF MEETING
The Board of Island County Commissioners met in Special Session on Thursday, November 13, 2003, convening at 11:30 a.m., in Conference Room #218, Island County Courthouse Administration Building located at 1 N.E. 7th Street, Coupeville. The purpose of the meeting was the annual visit from Washington State Association of Counties (WSAC) and Washington Association of County Officials (WACO) meeting with Island County Officials.
Bill Vogler, Executive Director, WSAC, met with the Commissioners. Bill Oakes, Island County Public Works Director, and Phil Bakke, Island County Planning & Community Development Director, participated in the discussion.
A variety of topics were discussed with Mr. Vogler that could be considered for legislative review:
§ Extending the completion time frame for GMA review
§ Delaying implementation of new stormwater model manual
§ Concern about HPA’s and not having any specific regulations
§ Concern about tort reform
§ Additional dollars from the State to backfill from legislative action on 695 and initiative 747.
In almost all cases, Mr. Vogler did not see too much of a chance that any of those concerns would be addressed next year.
The meeting with the Commissioners was followed at Noon for a no-host luncheon at the Tyee Restaurant (upstairs room), 405 S. main Street, Coupeville, Wa., with all Island County Elected Officials invited. WSAC and WACO officials were available after the luncheon for questions and comments.
