BOARD OF ISLAND COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS MINUTES OF MEETING JANUARY 28, 2004
The Board of Island County Commissioners met in special session on Wednesday, January 28,
2004, beginning at Noon (following the
10:00 a.m. RTPO Meeting) for a no-host
luncheon meeting, held in the Island County Courthouse
Administration Building, 1 N.E. 7th Street, Coupeville, Wa. The meeting has been called to allow
County Commissioners’ participation in a joint Council of
Governments meeting with Elected Officials from Island County, City of Oak
Harbor, City of Langley, Town of Coupeville, and Port Districts. Topics slated as potential discussion items included current legislative
issues, issues of mutual interest and concern of the cities, town and county.
William J. Byrd, Chairman, Mike Shelton, Member and Wm. L. McDowell, Member,
were present. Others attending
included: Sheilah Crider, representing the City of Oak Harbor;
Nancy Conard, Mayor, Town of Coupeville; Neil Colburn, Mayor, City of Langley;
and Sharon Hart, Executive Director, EDC .
Issues of Mutual
Interest/Concern
The new Mayor of the City of Langley, Mayor Colburn,
was given a warm welcome.
Participants agreed to invite Bill Massey to the next meeting to talk
about use of Rural Economic Development funds. The next meeting has been scheduled for February 25, 2004 at 10:00
a.m. subject to the availability of Mr. Massey. Should he be unable to attend, the item will be scheduled for the
following COG Meeting.
Transportation
and bridge congestion issues were
briefly discussed.
Meeting adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
