BOARD OF ISLAND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MINUTES OF MEETING

DECEMBER 15, 2006 - EMERGENCY SESSION

The Board of Island County Commissioners convened in special session on December 15, 2006 at Noon, to deal with an emergency as allowed under provisions of RCW 42.30.070. The meeting was held in the County Administration Building, Room 215, 1 N. E. 7^th Street, Coupeville, WA. Commissioners Mike Shelton and Bill Byrd were present; Wm. L. McDowell, Chairman, participated by phone.

The purpose of the emergency session was to afford the Board an opportunity to meet with Bill Oakes, Public Works Director, to receive an emergency status report and review potential emergency action that may be necessary as a result of strong damaging winds that hit Whidbey Island and Camano Island. Power outages continue; some Island residences are not expected to have power until as late as Sunday. High winds caused falling trees, brought down power lines and damage to some structures, but at this point, Mr. Oakes believed no emergency action was necessary on the part of the Board at this time.
