EHAT has
used the PACE EH process
(Protocol for Assessing Community
Excellence in Environmental Health) to
assess and evaluate local environmental
health issues, and develop action plans to help resolve them.
PACE
EH
is a 13-step process that EHAT uses
to identify gaps in existing data and programs,
and to build our community's ability to address
environmental health needs. The 13 steps
in the PACE EH process are:
1. Determining
community capacity
2. Defining
and characterizing the community
3. Assembling
a community-based environmental
health assessment team
4. Defining
the goals, objectives and scope of
the assessment
5. Generating
a list of community-specific
environmental health issues
6. Analyzing
the issues with a systems framework
7. Developing
locally appropriate indicators
8. Selecting
standards against which local status
can be compared
9. Creating
issue profiles
10. Ranking
the issues
11. Setting
priorities for action
12. Developing
an action plan
13. Evaluating
the progress and planning for the
future
