Bringing Baby Home

Why is the Health Department doing this?  Prevention!

We believe that what happens in the first three years of life builds the foundation for life-long healthy citizens. Early brain research has shown that babies need secure, responsive attachments and a comforting, enriching environment. The years from birth to three are critical in the development of the child's ability to learn and mature emotionally. Research has also shown that support for parents in these years reduces stressful effects on children.
. . . and call us if you have any questions about your child.

*The Family Support Alliance

Our mission is to weave together Island County families with services across South, Central, North Whidbey, and Camano.

What does the Family Support Alliance look like?

The Family Support Alliance is made up of people across Island County who work with children and families in many ways from the health department, library, schools, faith community, child care centers, private practices, and to community/state coalitions.

Where can you see us?

Visit us on our web sight at:  www.familysupportalliance.com

We directly support parents through monthly columns in the newspapers, tips for parents through table-tents at local restaurants, and as the host of Children’s Day.  We are also coordinating Mother’s Circle in each area of the county: south, north and Camano.  This is a free support and information group for parents with children from birth to two years old.

Behind the scenes.

We are also actively working behind the scenes to support and build networks among family service providers offering families an accessible and coherent network of services in Island County.
