An Ohio native and graduate of Wilmington College and Ohio State University College of Medicine; Washington resident since 1964; Whidbey Islander since 1970; retired (1986) Navy captain; former hospital commanding officer and Board Certified Family Practitioner / flight surgeon; appointed Island County Health Officer, 1991; Medical Director North Whidbey Community Clinic 1991-96; charter (ex-officio) member CHAB, March 1993; elected Commissioner, Whidbey General Hospital (Oak Harbor district) 1996, 2001 & 2007; 50+ years of public service; married, 5 children, 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren.

Catherine grew  up in various areas of the UK due to her father being a Royal Army Engineer who had postings in several different locations.  She married and eventually moved with her husband to Arizona, where she completed her nurse’s training and held a variety of management positions.  Along the way she also completed a business degree, took Pastoral courses, and completed Parish Nurse training. She joined CHAB with an interest in working on Chronic Illness.

Board Certified in both toxicology and industrial hygiene, David is a retired Navy Medical Service Corps Captain with an interest in occupational and environmental health. His career experiences have given him a broad perspective across multiple disciplines having to do with disease prevention and health promotion, and he seeks to continue serving our community wherein he has recently retired. He is a member of the local Navy League, and of the Military Officers of America. He participates as a member of CHAB's Environmental Health Assessment Team (EHAT), and is a steering committee member of that activity. David is also the CHAB liaison to the Board of Health

Cathy has worked with the United Way of Island County since 1984. She worked her way up from Administrative Assistant to Finance Director to Chief Financial Officer to Assistant Director to Executive Director.  She has had training at Skagit Valley College in grant management, holds a Certificate of Non-Profit Management, and attended United Way of America’s trainings.  She also enjoys her work with Junior Achievement (2^nd and 3^rd graders), served at Co-Chair of Children’s Day in 2005, works on the National Night Out campaign, and has been a CHAB member since 2004.  She is also active with Family Support Alliance and the Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce.  She is a parent to 3 children, ages 8, 16, and 18.

Trish Rose

Community Relations Coordinator for Whidbey General Hospital, Trish is a prominent health care educator for the community  with excellent liaison to the media. She is responsible for the production of The Pulse, Whidbey General's voice to the community. A skilled communicator with close ties to the medical community, Trish is also a board member for the Oak Harbor Senior Center, and a Readiness to Learn team member. She has a master's degree in education and the humanities, and is a senior officer (colonel) in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

Patricia has 30 years of experience as a registered nurse with clinical positions in critical care, following which she  worked for a number of years as a Medicare/Medicaid certification surveyor and health department investigator. She is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and has worked for two federally designated Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs), giving her direct experience with population-based interventions and monitoring for desired outcomes. Patricia recently completed studies for a Master of Public Administration from Seattle University so that she might one day participate in the legislative process. She feels that her clinical background, expertise in quality improvement and her recent educational endeavors will make her an asset to CHAB as a representative from Camano Island.

David Thomason

Dave holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice and is the Family Advocacy Program Educator for NAS Whidbey Island. He provides consultation and instruction on a wide variety of topics including Stress and Anger Management, Communication Skills, Parenting, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and other family advocacy and prevention topics. He is also President of the local lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, a Board Member of the Washington State Critical Incident Stress Management Network, member of CADA Board of Directors, a member of the Oak Harbor Police Department’s Community Advisory Board, and serves as an Ambassador for the Greater Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce. Dave is a retired Navy Master Chief of 24 years and served as Chief of Police for the Naval Air Station. He and his family have lived on Whidbey Island for over 6 years.
