The Northwest Washington
Regional Epidemiology Partnership

CHAB

The Northwest Washington Regional Epidemiology Partnership Report is here ... a Regional Health Indicator Database which provides a foundation for assessing cross-county differences and trends over time for a wide range of health issues.

A project of the Partnership, this report includes information from the four participating counties: Island, San Juan, Skagit and Whatcom. This information assists local officials, community agencies and residents in developing health policy and setting priorities for addressing the most important health issues facing a community and the North West Region.

Health issues explored include:

Socio-demographic
Chronic Disease
Maternal-Child Health
Unintentional Injuries and Poisonings
Infectious Disease

Crime and Violence
Mental Health and Substance Abuse
Air Quality
Food Quality
Drinking Water Quality
Liquid Waste

Funding for this project was provided by the four counties involved, a Washington State Department of Health Partnership grant, and the Northwest Regional Council. Hard copies of this report are available in the each of Island county's libraries, at Whidbey General Hospital, and at the Island County Health Department.

This Regional Report is a valuable and useful document for health planning and program development in our region. It may also be useful for teaching and communicating about public health issues. You are encouraged to use the document in any way you wish. Please feel free to copy and use this report for your own presentations or reports.

Our staff is available to answer questions you may have about the data used in the report or any limitations there may be with the report. Also, should you have need of epidemiological expertise for a project you are working on, please contact the Northwest Regional Council project coordinator, Shelly Zylstra, at (360)676-6749.
