Family meals. Bike paths. After-school snacks. Walking trails.  What do all of these things have in common?

They represent opportunities for increasing physical activity and healthy eating in our community.  Island County Public Health has undertaken the following community-based health initiatives to help residents of all ages engage in active living and healthy eating.

Community-based health initiatives
     ●   Healthy Island Youth Initiative
     ●   Walkable Island County

Our community-based coalitions play a vital role in fostering community support from elected officials, transportation planners and engineers, and public health staff for moving towards a healthy Island County.

Community-based coalitions

●   Island County Children’s Commission

●   Community Health Advisory Board (CHAB)

●   Environmental Health Assessment Team (EHAT)

●   Whidbey in Motion (WHIM)
