Worksites

Our Chronic Disease Prevention Program works with employers to support adults in eating healthy and becoming more physically active.   Program staff serve on Island County’s Wellness Committee.

As one of the largest employers in the county with 499 employees, Island County’s Wellness Committee hosts four quarterly events, including “Get Fit” Day, the Governor's Health Bowl, the Employee Picnic, and the Employee Benefits Fair, to encourage employees to adopt a healthier lifestyle, and has set the following goals for 2008:
    ●   Improve employee self-health evaluation
    ●   Reduce the number of employees who smoke by 5%
    ●   Submit a proposal to Island County Commissioners to request the Island County
campus be converted to a tobacco-free campus

Please contact Larry Larson at larryl@co.island.wa.us for more information.
