County-specific Data

We monitor trends in obesity and overweight, physical activity, and nutrition to determine if we are meeting the goals of our program.

The Healthy Youth Survey (HYS) provides important information about youth behavior in 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th grades.  Local data on physical activity, diet, and weight is available in the handouts below for 2006.

Healthy Weight, Healthy Eating, and Physical Activity 2006

The Island County Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) tracks health conditions and risk behaviors for adults every 5 to 6 years through a telephone survey. Local data for 2006 is described below.

The 2006 Island County Plan for Healthy Living highlights responses from key informant interviews and an online community survey of 668 respondents about physical activity and dietary habits, and perspectives on the barriers to healthy living and potential remedies.
