1.0 MAJOR FUNCTION AND
PURPOSE
1.1 Employees in this position provide general office administrative support, provide a first contact with the public, provide information to the public regarding various procedures and programs and assists the appraisers in their tasks and other departmental employees when necessary. Process the 1% real estate tax affidavits, daily recordings and input necessary information into the system.

RECEIVED
2.1 Supervision is received from the Chief Deputy Assessor and the Departmental Support Administrator.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
3.1 Employee in
this position does not normally supervise any staff.
4.0 SPECIFIC DUTIES
AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
4.1 Greeting
and tactfully assisting the public in a courteous manner.
4.2 Assists the
general public in person or on the telephone by answering questions, explaining
services, policies, procedures and schedules; locates information from the
Assessor’s records and provides it to the public. Manage the use of the public
Kiosk. Provide the public and department with parcel control
analysis.
4.3 Enters and
retrieves data on and in county records manually or on a
computer.
4.4 Prepares
and types such things as notices, reports, form letters, forms, cards, documents
and correspondence. Collects money for maps and data printouts and reconciles
cash receipts.
4.5 Process the
1% real estate excise tax affidavits.
4.6 Make copies
of all necessary daily recordings and input information from affidavits and
recordings into the system.
4.7 Maintain
the integrity and accuracy of the owner and/or taxpayer mailing
list.
4.8 Act as
principal liaison between Assessor’s Office, Treasurer and Auditor
Office.
4.9 Assists
senior citizens with exemption applications and inquiries.
4.10 Responsible for
purchasing and maintaining the office inventory of
supplies.
4.11 Other duties as
assigned.
5.0 DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS,
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
5.1 Valid
5.2 Familiarity
with tools, instruments, equipment and techniques commonly used in their
performance of this position.
5.3 Ability to
use computer terminals, personal computer, scanner, word processor, copier, 10
key (touch) type (40 WPM).
5.4 Ability to
quickly grasp new techniques, deal with rapid change in events, remain calm in
stressful situations, relate to various personality styles in a calm,
professional manner.
5.5 Effectively
communicate with others for purposes of gathering and relating
information.
5.6 Understand
the need for maintaining confidentiality of sensitive
information.
5.7 Independent
and self-motivated to complete required deadlines while simultaneously
completing other tasks
6.0 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND
CERTIFICATES
6.1 High School
diploma or GED.
6.2 One year of
office experience; or any equivalent combination of training and/or experience
that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
