Diversion
Program
Diversion is a different
way of dealing with juveniles who are referred for a first misdemeanor
and/or gross misdemeanor offense. The juvenile is not required
to go to court and cannot be sent to juvenile detention.
A diversion agreement
is a contract between the juvenile and the diversion unit.
A diversion agreement may require the juvenile to do certain things,
such as:
- Perform community restitution hours
- Attend counseling, informational and/or educational classes
- Pay restitution and/or a fine
- Under certain circumstances you may be counseled and released,
which means no further action will be required of you.
