Planning Commission Annual Review

    A Division of Island County Government  
 

     On February 27, 2009 the Board of Island County Commissioners established the Planning Commission's 2009 Annual Review Docket.  Eight items have been placed on the Docket this year.  Below you will find a brief description of each item.

     Currently, Planning Department staff are conducting research and developing staff proposals for each of the items.  Staff proposals will be transmitted to the Planning Commission on May 1, 2009.  Each proposal will also be posted on this webpage.  You will find a hearing and meeting schedule at the bottom of this page which will tell you the date, location and subject matter for each hearing.

1. 2. Parks Plan - Proposed amendments to the Island County Parks Plan. 
Due to reductions in staff this item had to be delayed in order to allot sufficient time for the comprehensive review the subject deserves.
 
It is our hope this item will be re-addressed in the 2010 docket.

Housing Element - Proposed amendments to the County Housing Element.

Ebey’s Reserve – Proposed amendments to the standards and procedures that regulate development within Ebey’s Landing National Historic Reserve.  These amendments modify permit review procedures, development standards, and they incorporate references to a companion design manual.  For questions, please contact Brandon Sweezea at BrandonS@co.island.wa.us or at 360-678-7822.  Hearing dates:  6/9/09, 7/28/09, 8/25/09, 9/15/09, and 10/20/09

Freeland Development Regulations - Proposed development regulations that govern development activity with the Freeland Non-Municipal Urban Growth Area.  Proposed regulations address zoning designations, allowed uses and densities, design guidelines and other development requirements.  These draft regulations have been developed in response to the adoption of the Freeland Sub Area Plan.  For questions, please contact Anthony Boscolo at AnthonyB@co.island.wa.us or at 360-678-7824.
