Long-Range Planning is a division of the Island County Planning & Community Development Department. Long-Range Planners are responsible for:

 

Maintaining and updating the County’s Comprehensive Plan

Developing subarea plans through active community engagement

Informing stakeholders and encouraging participation in the planning process

Proposing changes to the Island County Code

Establishing County-Wide Planning Policies

Coordinating land-use planning efforts between local jurisdictions and the County

Planning for projected population growth and allocation by jurisdiction

Making recommendations regarding the adjustment of Urban Growth Boundaries

Working with staff to identify issues relating to County Code and permit processing

Creating County maps through use of GIS software

Administrating the County’s PBRS program

Processing Water System Review applications

Promoting regional partnerships on land use and transportation issues

Updating the Planning Department website
Answering inquiries from the public
