NIMS IMPLEMENTATION

UPDATE

(Page Revised 3 June 2008)

IMPLEMENTATION BACKGROUND

The NIMS was adopted by proclamation No. C-18-05 of the Board of Island County Commissions on 3 March 2005.  Island County is working to implement and institutionalize NIMS.

2008 NIMS IMPLEMENTATION PLANS

The Federal Fiscal Year 2008 Island County NIMS Implementation Plan has been completed and can be viewed at the following link:

Final 2007 NIMS IMPLEMENTATION REPORT

The 2007 implementation report to the state was submitted by the DEM on 11 September.  This year each first response organization or jurisdiction is reporting separately in response to changes in the reporting procedures.  Island County DEM therefore reported for the county government offices.

FINAL 2006 NIMS IMPLEMENTATION REPORT

The report indicated that Island County first responder organizations had made significant progress toward completing NIMS implementation and the 2006 implementation tasks.  While progress was made, more work is needed to finish implementation.

DRAFT 2008 IMPLEMENTATION MATRICES

2008 implementation requirements have not been released yet (23 Jan 2008).

An early draft of the proposed 2008 implementation tasks can be found at the following link:

The use of "tiers" for sorting requirements will be discontinued in Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 08. Known requirements for 2008 will be the completion of IS-300 and the completion of resource typing for all emergency response resources. IS 400 training completion has been extended until FFY 09.

The ICS training requirements can be found at NIMS Training and the requirement to "type classify" emergency response assets is found at NIMS Resource Typing Definitions.  The links to individual chapters of the resource typing definitions document are listed below.
