2008 Implementation Training

In 2008 ICS-300 and ICS-400 will be required courses for some first responders.  These courses are only offered in a classroom setting.   The NIMS training guidance can be found at the following link:  NIMS Training Guidance  The guidance was issued for 2007 and is still valid for 2008.

Questions about the classes, NIMS, or the County 2008 NIMS Implementation Plan can be telephoned to DEM at (360) 679-7370 or e-mailed to dem@co.island.wa.us .

Courses required in 2005, 2006, and 2007 continue to be required in 2008 for first response personnel.  Again the criteria as to who should be trained at each level can be found in the "NIMS Training Guidance" mentioned before.  The required NIMS ICS courses are (with the exception of two) are on-line and can be found on the FEMA web site at:

ICS-300 AND ICS-400 are Tier 1 courses in 2008.  Both are classroom instruction only. The next ICS-400 class is: (click on link for flyer and application)

NEW ICS RELATED ON-LINE COURSES

The several new on-line independent study (IS) courses related to ICS functions are now listed in the FEMA EMI catalogue at the following link:

IS-702    NIMS Public Information Officer

IS-703    NIMS Resource Management

IS-706    NIMS Intrastate Mutual Aide - An Introduction

Washington Homeland Security Institute (HSI)

As an additional source for ICS and other NIMS training, the Washington Homeland Security Institute (HSI) offers NIC approved versions of IS-700, 100, IS-200, and IS-800.   The link to those courses is:  HSI  Courses offered on the HSI web site may be easier to access and have a different format.  Also, the courses offered at this site print completion certificates upon successful course completion. 

Approved Alternate Courses.

NWCG and the NIMS Integration Center (NIC) have agreed on which NWCG courses are accepted substitutes for FEMA ICS courses.  Details can be found in the following linked document:
