PAYING YOUR TAXES ONLINE

Before paying your taxes online, please read the following information

Your personal information is protected...

Island County takes your privacy very seriously and protects your transactions via a number of security measures including VeriSign, a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts your information so it can be securely sent across the internet.

Payment information...

Online payment is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express and E-check (electronic personal check) are accepted. At the end of your transaction, you will be provided immediate payment confirmation and a receipt that you should print for your records.

Each transaction will be charged a convenience fee for this service. RCW 36.29.190 requires that the payer, not the county, bear the cost of processing online property tax payments. Island County DOES NOT receive any of the transaction fees charged. If you do not wish to pay the fee, you will be provided the opportunity to opt out or cancel your transaction before finalizing. This service is ONLY available online. We cannot accept credit cards or E-Checks in the Treasurer's office.

The convenience fee for this service is: Credit Cards 2.5% of the tax amount for all credit cards. E-Check: $2.00 per tax payment less than or equal to $10,000. For each tax payment greater than $10,000, there is a $15.00 transaction fee.

Have your account key number ready. Your account key number is located on your tax statement both at the top and on your payment coupons. Have your credit card ready or a copy of a check if you are using E-Check. Incorrect payment amounts will not be processed.

Canadian and international taxpayers must pay property taxes in US DOLLARS ONLY.

Other Information...

Internet checks (E-checks) are an electronic version of a physical check. When you make your online tax payment with an E-check, you authorize the bank to electronically withdraw funds from your account for the amount of your tax payment plus the transaction fee described above.

We DO NOT ACCEPT the following types of checks for online payments:

  • Real Estate Line of Credit (RELOC) checks.
  • Convenience checks drawn on credit card accounts.
  • Home equity line of credit checks.
  • Travelers checks and Money Orders
  • Cashiers Checks and treasurers checks

We do accept Credit Cards and Personal Checks.

Incorrect payment amounts will not be processed.
